Rose Photoshoot

I had the chance to work with my friend on a Photoshoot. This was Rose's very first. It was funny when we began because she couldn't quite figure out how to project. I also couldn't figure out how to direct the pictorial. We referred to a Lacoste catalogue and from there, after some warm-up, the model began to project really good from the inside.

I concentrated on composition to get headshots and mid body poses. I was looking for some odd geometries that was pleasing to the eyes. The model had some defining shapes and contours on her face so I tried using these to get some interesting photos.

On this shoot, I used the Tamron 28-75. This range is called by many as their main workhorse, I was curiuos why many depend on this range so I used it on this occassion. Normally, this is a walkaround lens where you get a decent wide to a somewhat tight 70ish. However, I wanted to check how this lens performs on a studio photoshoot to see if it matches my style.

On my shoots, I like including some slightly wide shots as it projects boldness. I also like to be within speaking range of my model. Being close to my model allows interaction and when you are able to comminucate well with your model on a shoot, the job becomes easier for both the model and the photographer. For my kind of work, 28-75 is a sweet spot as the range allows a convenient distance between the two.

The Tamron 28-75 weighs just 500 grams and at f2.8 is fast. It has a lock switch that prevents the lens from extending when pointed downwards. The front element of the lens does not rotate so filters and attachements can be used. The lens extends as you zoom in but this functionality does not bother me. As a tool, the Tamron 28-75 is able to transform compositions in my thoughts into pictures. THe package comes with a lens and hood, there is no pouch.
