THE SONY Pocket Style PC

Mobile computing has taken many directions and one of that is all about size. The Sony Pocket Style PC is an excellent mobile computing tool that goes everywhere with you. Gone are the days of laptops weighing more than a kilogram. This stylish head turner weighs at just a little over 500 grams. It’s so light and small that I put it in my jeans. Comes in a variety of colors and I don’t mind that red color being loud because the tone color is simply elegant. There are 2 models, the VGN-P15G/R and the VGN-P13GH/Q. The main difference mainly being the storage drive. The VGN-P15G comes with a 64 gigabyte solid state drive while the VGN-P13 has a 60 gigabyte hard drive built into it. Solid state drives are similar to thumbdrives where there are no mechanical structure in it to store information. Hard drives use mechanical components and while both are fast, solid state drives are lighter, consumes lesser power, performs faster,  and are more durable compared to regular hard drives. Besides the storage, the differences are the bundled operating system, Windows Media Center, and the processor.  We’ve provided a comparison table link below for your easy reference.Sony Pocket Style PC

I am particular about size. I want to carry around my tech stuff and gadget with me and the Sony Pocket Style PC is an entirely different class compared to netbooks that have flourished over these past months. It’s smaller, lighter, and the battery stretchesSony Pocket Style PC up to 6 hours when you use the optional battery pack VGP-BPL15. Performance is even better. Of course I don’t use the Sony Pocket PC for graphic intensive and demanding applications, I’d use my good old desktop PC to do that. However,  I was happy to get really good results by using it with office applications, photos, online based games, surfing the web, emails, voice chat using the motion eye webcam, social networking like my favourite Facebook, that kind of stuff. What I like about this Pocket Style PC is I was able to use it for my kind of work. I used it to record professional ambient sound using a condenser mic for a film we are developing. That kind of work usually requires the fruit brand but I got the same result at a more convenient Pocket Style PC package.

Sony Pocket Style PCThe backlit LED screen driven by Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 500 is simply amazing. For an 8 inch wide screen, your eyes will feast on a 1600 X 768 UWXGA full TFT colour display. It was good such that I used it for a photoshoot where I had to instantly check my photos on a computer screen. Instead of appreciating the beauty of our model, attention was diverted to the beauty of the Sony Vaio Pocket Style PC.

One feature I also like is the Instant Mode that allows you to watch DVD, listen to music, or view pictures without having to boot up the system. Now that is coooool.

Intel Atom LogoThe engine that drives this Pocket Style PC is the Atom Z530 for the VGN-P15G model and Atom Z520 for theVGN-P123GH and it is good for a host of everyday and mid intensive applications. Connectivity is a breeze with its built in Wifi b,g, n and Bluetooth connectivity. It has a decent front side camera with a resolution of 640 X 480 and that is box TV resolution. Shipped with Vista Home Premium 32 bits (VGN-P15G/R) and Home Basic 32 bits (VGN-P13GH/Q). CLICK HERE to see full specs, bundled software, and price.
Sony Vaio Pocket Style PC
My verdict to the Sony Vaio Pocket Style PC is good because it made me efficient with the things I do on a daily basis. In fact, I recommend and endorse it on two important domineering features... size and performance. Definitely, a good buy. I'll catch up with you later

....... Chris
